My Vector Art - SLJ

Today, I've used Google Drawing once again to create my Vector Art. I chose the shape of a star because, in the night, a shining star rose in the east, guiding the three wise men to where the new messiah would be born. I added in my foreign language in saying 'Merry Christmas' because I am proud of my native language and I'd love to share it with everyone.

Creating a Geome-tree - SLJ

Today, I have created a Geome-tree, using Google Drawing and a line in Google Drawing called 'Poly-line' to create the shapes and the outline of my tree. The image below is my version and thought, as well as an example, of what a Geome-tree could look like.

How Giraffes are, as siblings.

There was a male giraffe, standing along the beach, staring at a magnificent view. He admired how nice and calm the sea was. How the sunset gathered colorful colors towards it. He loved how the silence completed the image until he heard hooves galloping along the sandy beach. It was his little sister! “What are you doing?” she asked. “I wanted some peace and quiet, is that alright?" He replied. “That doesn’t answer my question. And why are you out here? Mom called us to go have dinner like 15 minutes ago.” She said reminding him. “Yeah I’ll be right there.” Continuously looking at the view. His little sister was puzzled and wondered what was going on in his mind. So she decided to lean her head towards his to see what he was looking at, but it didn’t change anything. “You’re so weird you know that right?” she stated. He replied, rolling his eyes, “Being weird is good. Someone that stupid would say such a thing.” “You should at least come home instead to eat” she mumbled, feeling a bit worried. “Nah, this view won't come back until tomorrow evening. I can’t miss this one.” “You’re so difficult. I might get in trouble from Mom because you’re dragging your hooves, and you better remember that this isn't my fault.” she scoffed. “I know. Now run along, go home and eat,” he agreed. “Mom won’t want me back home until you come with me.” “You’re such a pain. You never leave me alone for my own satisfaction” he argued. “That’s what siblings are for” She shrugged, finishing the argument.

Who would I trade lives with?

If I’d have to choose who to trade lives with, I’d probably trade lives with a rich person. Knowing that I wouldn’t really know what to do in their lives, I guess it’d be best to find out. I wouldn’t mean to invade their privacy, I just want to know how they really are behind closed doors. Not knowing if they’re good or bad. If they turn out to be something I didn’t expect them to be like, whether it’s good or bad, I wouldn’t dare to say something that would ruin their reputation.

What are 3 things I would teach my future child?

The three things I would teach my future child would be manners, how to do chores and our language. For manners, people would look at my child and think he/she is respectful, kind, and helpful. It gives us a great reputation around his/her school, family members, and friends. Having a positive attitude will eventually lead you to something good in the future. Getting taught how to do chores is pretty simple once you get used to it. This would be another way of being helpful but around the house! It’s a good break from devices too, especially if you’ve been on it all day. Speaking your mother tongue could be difficult at first, but once you get used to it you’ll be able to speak to your family members who don’t speak or understand English. It would be easier for them to be able to create a conversation and communicate.

A Cave or a Treehouse?

I would rather live in a cave than a treehouse. Though, as I was growing up, I did beg my parents to build me a treehouse. But now that I’m older, I think I find it more dangerous, but for safety reasons. For instance, what if you fall walking through those wooden bridges? It only has wood lined with a rope attached to it, and it probably has a weight limit of up to 60kg. But in my opinion, living in a cave would be much safer. The walls are made of solid rocks and would be a perfect hang-out, and there sure would be room for furniture! Making a cave your home would be the best and better option than falling to your death.

A Jetpack or a life-sized robot?

I would rather have a jetpack than a robot. Jetpacks lift your feet off of the ground. You can even steer the jetpack by leaning in whichever direction you would like to go. It is an easier and faster transport that can get you to fly in the air for as long as it lasts. Being able to soar through the clouds and against the wind gives you the feeling of freedom and excitement. But for a robot, it shuts down whenever it wants to. For me, it gives me the creeps, especially at night. Hearing it walk around in the house with its squeaky parts and metal clanking feet would make me feel uncomfortable. It’s like having a mannequin that’s made of metal walking around and serving you with a not-so-normal voice.

Fly or be invisible?

I’d rather fly than be invisible. Flying for me means freedom. Getting to see beautiful views up high in the sky nobody probably has ever seen before would be an outstanding experience! Maybe even try going overseas. But to be invisible is kind of like hiding from people. The common purpose of that power is maybe trying not to be seen by anyone because of embarrassment, or because you're scared. It can also mean you're some kind of spy in that way. Possibly even someone who tries to invade other people’s privacy. But being able to fly is more exciting and interesting than hiding in the dark, being invisible.

Sing or Dance?

I would rather sing than dance. Singing has always been a part of me ever since I was small. It is also in my blood and culture. I grew up in a Church that supports talents, especially when being used to worship God.

Spend holidays at a beach or go overseas?

I’d rather spend my holiday at a beach in New Zealand than go overseas. Though most of my family members are overseas, it’s better to be safe than sorry due to covid. Getting a break from New Zealand would be my family’s dream but because of covid, we can’t go anywhere.

Amelia Earhart

This is a presentation of an American aviator who dared to become the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Christiaan Barnard

This is a presentation in remembrance of who Christiaan Barnard is and why he is important till' this day.

What is the role of the kidney?

What is the role of the kidney?

The role of the kidney is to make sure they have the right amount of water, salt, and acid. They also help clean the blood, removing unneeded material through urine.

This is where the kidney is in the body :

Heroic Lead or a Villain?

I'd rather be a heroic lead in a story than a villain. Sure, villains may have probably better powers but that doesn't mean our powers are useless. Everyone would automatically be scared, just by judging the villains' appearances. Villains would probably have the biggest lairs, the best outfits for fighting, and sneaky but cheesy plans. But being a heroic lead among other hero's is a privilege, especially to serve our people by giving them the courage, faith, and belief in us.

Why Dental Health Is Important

Did you know, rotten teeth can impact your future?

Your teeth are very important and require special treatment. Dental hygiene at a young age can prevent tooth extraction and even false teeth as you age. Not forgetting that you would also have a beautiful white smile!

Some results of poor hygiene can include multiple tooth extractions and cavities. The consequences that you’ll face can have a negative impact on your teeth. One of these consequences are fillings due to cavities. Cavities that are not taken care of properly, can damage your teeth severely. Cavities can eventually lead to bad breath and even loss of your tooth. Immense bad breath, due to tooth decay can be embarrassing as nobody wants to inhale smelly breath. It is also very expensive to extract rotten teeth because it takes a lot of skill and concentration.

So therefore, for these reasons, people should know the importance of taking care of their dental health.

Dental hygiene is always a priority that we need to consider. Hygiene is important as part of keeping our teeth healthy and fresh, especially for our smile! To prevent cavities, rotten teeth, and extraction, all we need to do is carefully look after our teeth. For instance, limit how much sugar we eat, eating healthier food, brushing our teeth twice a day, and flossing. If we continue to repeat this method daily, our teeth will continue to flourish, knowing that we care for them.

In conclusion, it is vital to brush and floss your teeth to refresh and clear out the bad bacteria which causes rotten teeth and cavities. It can also make your gums healthy, securing your teeth in place. And as we continue to age, false teeth or braces won’t be an issue at all. So therefore, this is why Dental Health is important.

Teleport to a video game or your favorite TV show/movie?

I'd rather teleport to my favorite movie than a video game. It would be more exciting and interesting. Being in intense action movies would probably be the best but most frightening moments I would ever have. Learning how to hold a gun properly and fighting bad guys daily. Other than a video game, you only have 3 lives left to complete a mission. But for movies? Having yourself in that rare experience with the people you admire on set would be a spectacular adventure.

Being stranded on an island or in a deep forest?

I'd rather be stranded on an island because it reminds me of my own. An Island full of magnificent trees with glorious water surrounding it feels like paradise! I would picture it as a beautiful and refreshing vacation.

Other than a forest, there might be hungry wild animals, muddy and slippery tracks, and creepy noises within the forest.

Having gills to breathe underwater or have wings to fly?

I'd rather have to breathe underwater because breathing underwater would be a rare but amazing experience to have! I'd love to dive into the water and talk freely without choking or making any gagging noises, especially gasping for air! So therefore, for these reasons, I'd rather have gills to breathe underwater than have wings to fly.

Stopping time or Going back in Time?

Both ideas of stopping time or going back in time sounds spectacular! But I'd rather go with stopping time.

Why? Because I could do many things as people freeze - like take another persons' unfinished sandwich, or probably go through my sisters' closet and take some of her clothes without her noticing.

But going back in the future? For me personally, it just seems like you're saving yourself from embarrassment and from you're worst moments.

You might even mess with the future by messing with the past.

Would you rather talk to animals or read peoples' minds?

I would rather talk to animals because it would be a really great and rare experience to have. I love animals so I would be very happy to interact with them while I can understand what they’re saying.

A superhero or a wizard?

Being a superhero would be fun because I think having super and unique powers would be a privilege and a blessing! Using it for the greater good, giving me an honorable reputation, and maybe becoming a representative, inspiring person towards those who would want to do good too.

Monday, 18 October 2021

I would rather...

I would rather jump on clouds because I like to be up high in the sky to feel the nice, cool breeze that comes by.

All my worries down there left behind, as I enjoy myself in the sky.
As I move with the clouds in the air makes me go almost anywhere!

I’d love to climb the tallest clouds to see more of God’s creation.

Feeling free feels like I’m the luckiest person on Earth!

Life cycle about Maggots - Tyrah

This is a Maggot life cycle that I've created on google drawing. This activity was from an article I read about a girl who fell from the sky because her plane disintegrated. The girl, whose name is Juliane, had an injury on her arm that was filled with 30 maggots. The maggots ate away the dead tissue from the wound allowing it to heal.

Tupaia's Famous Drawing - Tyrah

This photo was inspired by a navigator and high priest from the island of Ra'iatea whose name was Tupaia. He could point out more than 100 islands, the size, the position of their reefs, and harbors. Captain Cook and Tupaia stood by each other side by side, becoming close friends. Captain Cook proposed a ride to Tupaia on the Endeavor. Tupaia started drawing so that people could see the difference between Polynesians viewing his world, and compared it to how Europeans viewed it.

Here is one of Tupaia's famous drawings:

The Internet in 60 Seconds - Tyrah

The Internet is a social network providing people's information. People can communicate with each other with internet connection.

Here is an example showing what happens on the internet world-wide within 60 seconds.

Argo Cycle - Tyrah

Today, I have done an activity for my reading task about how a Argo Float cycle works. The Argo Float is a device that measures it's temperature and salinity of sea water. The Float is 1.2 meters long and weighs 40 kilograms. It's life span is up to five years. It collects data that is useful for scientists, oceanographers, meteorologist and and many others. It is designed to be strong enough to descend 2,000m below the surface of the sea.

Here is an example of an Argo Float Cycle

A Life In Syria - Tyrah

 Dear Diary,

Bombs going off, here and there.

While I was at school, toxic air was everywhere.

As we were walking home, blood was streaming down from people's bodies.

Lots of screaming and shouting.

Kids being kids.

It's now silent, since it's night.

But when it's 3am, they strike.

My Sailing Experience! - Tyrah

On the 10th of May, the seniors of our school went sailing at Okahu Bay.  It was fascinating to learn how to steer a boat with a rudder and how to control the sail with a rope. The funny thing that happened to me while I was at sea was falling out of the boat and trying to get back in. Thanks to St Johns Rotary and Sailing NZ, we wouldn't have experienced this opportunity that has been given to us. And thanks for making our day special. My classmates, friends and I had lots of fun sailing. Especially falling out of the boat into the cold, freezing water!

Diary Entry - Tyrah

 Dear Diary,

This girl made my day! She's not as bad as she looked. Having the same, damp yellow umbrella my father had meant the world to me. While the wind whooshed past my window, rain drops dripped down from the gutter I looked into her eyes. With cobwebs linking up with the cupboard and dust lying upon the window sill, she looked like the most happiest girl on Earth.

Diary Entry

This is a diary entry which I have written in response to a short animated movie we're studying for literature.

Heavy furniture scraping across the floor. Lots of pushing and shoving. Shouting and screaming. Hoping some day, I'll be out of this mess that my parents have made. Not knowing what they know... What's best for me...?

Clay Value - Tyrah

Today we discussed our values. We had to dig deep and think hard about what really counts.
I chose flowers as something I value because it is one of God's creation. We created our value in clay so we could think about it more and what it means to us personally.

Stations of the cross - Tyrah

On Holy Thursday, we performed a special event that happened back in Jesus' time. We call it "The Stations of the Cross." We had roles to play. The role I played, was being one of Veronica's (Asinate) friends. Only Catholic or religious schools like ours, perform this event. Ever since I was 5, I remember correctly and well that seniors like us have acted in this same act. I've always wanted to play a role in it. It seemed very fun and interesting to play one of the roles and wear the olden day's clothes. Here are some pictures that I like and some that I am in.

Class Treaty 2021 - Tyrah

As we begin a New Year, we need to follow new rules by creating our own on how to be a good role model to the juniors so they can, one day, follow our footsteps when we graduate and leave school by being "A Great Classmate."

Tu Huarere (The Weather) - Tyrah

For this activity, I will be translating "The weather" in Te Reo Maori or into English.

I enjoyed and loved doing this task because I did something like this in Week 1 so, it kind of made it easier for me to do this task.

The Treasure Code - Tyrah

For this activity, I learned how to write decipher, and indecipher pigpen code. This was a bit challenging for me to remember all the alphabets in order but after a while, I got it! I loved and enjoyed creating my own code.

Please comment down your answer below when you know the answer to this puzzle :)

Thank you, Happy holidays!

Hana Koko - Tyrah

My Haiku Poem - Tyrah

For this activity, I had learned what a Haiku Poem is. A Haiku Poem is traditionally a Japanese poem and they use three short lines using syllables. The most common numbers they would use for their poems are 5,7 and 5.

I loved doing this activity because I never knew what a Haiku poem was until now. I love writing poems but sometimes, they wouldn't come out as I wanted them to. But this poem makes me smile because it is about Summer. Summer is the best season to spend time with family and get to know them more. Especially in the Holiday season!

Which one doesn't belong? - Tyrah

For this activity, I have been doing "Which one doesn't belong?"

This was a fun activity to do because it was like a game to me. It was easy for me because I pictured it as if it was the game "What's the difference?" and I think I got it all correct. But other than that, I enjoyed doing this activity.

Writing Chorus lyrics - Tyrah

For this activity, I have been writing Chorus lyrics.

I loved doing this activity because singing is one of my talents and one of the things I am personally good at. I was more of a singer than a song-writer but when I did this activity, it inspired me to write songs of my own in the future and probably sing them live. Although, this activity was a bit hard for me because I honestly didn't know what to write. But then, I remembered a song called "Let me love you" by DJ snake and Marshmallow and I wanted to change the lyrics of the chorus a little bit to make it into an inspiration kind-of of chorus.

Te Reo Maori - "What are you doing today?" - Tyrah

I have been learning how to say "What are you doing today?" and "I am going to the playground" in Te Reo Maori.

I loved doing this task because last year, we did a fundraiser for an orphanage in India and to encourage the nation's language, I had memorized 100 words in Te Reo Maori and I got it all correct and were able to raise a bit amount of money.

Optical Illusions - Tyrah

I have been learning about Optical Illusions. Optical Illusions come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. The 2 common colors people use when they're drawing their own Optical Illusion are black and white(sometimes grey). The 3 most common shapes they use for Optical Illusions are squares, circles, and hexagons. People put in other shapes or the same shape inside of the shape and make it look 3D but it's just an illusion.

I enjoyed doing this activity and I loved creating my Optical Illusion! Reflecting on my learning and publishing my work on the web helps me to understand my work more and encourages me to make my work even better than before.

My Koru - Tyrah

I have been learning about a beautiful and well-made creation by God called a Koru. I learned that a Koru is a symbol of Creation and that is used often in Maori Art. I put in some of my traditional cultural patterns in my Koru that I drew.

This activity was a bit tricky for me but I still enjoyed doing it.

The Practical joke about the missing teeth - Tyrah

I have been learning about how this story is all just a practical joke on a tackle shop owner. The couple in this story had tricked him about his missing false teeth. When I share this to my blog, it helps me understand more about what is happening in the story and what I have learnt.

This story was a little bit tricky because I kind of didn’t understand the story at first. But as I read the story a lot and got help from my family, I started to understand it more.
